Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
All children and youth are welcome to join in the Bible Read program at Greenville Baptist Church! We are so excited that you and your family have decided to explore being part of this ever-growing family. Bible Read is a program designed to get children excited about learning about the Bible, Jesus, and all the people and events that took place before, during, and after His amazing life. We use a combination of methods in our Sunday School that strive to include all learning styles for ages 3-18. We use lesson plans that include a brief children’s sermon, an activity or craft, and discussion time.
Following the liturgical calendar, we include current life lessons. During the time known as “Ordinary Time”, our younger children (ages 3-5) focus on the well-known stories and how to pull main ideas out of them. Our 6-10-year-olds begin to learn the books of the Bible and The Lord’s Prayer. Our older children (11-14) begin to focus on how they can use the lessons from the Bible to live the fullest, most purposeful life. Our older teens begin to prepare for their own personal transitions (teen to adult) and how faith can lead them. We believe in arming our youth with knowledge that allows them to grow on personal, social, and spiritual levels.
It is important to read the Bible, and understand the lessons that are being taught, so that our youth may use these lessons outside the church walls. Our goal is for our children and youth to realize the Bible is relevant in today’s world!
Go be great, be strong and courageous, do not be afraid,
do not be discouraged for the Lord will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
